Even as we respond to COVID-19, Pella Regional continues to provide healthcare and healing services with Christian compassion. You are our friends, family, neighbors and our patients.

We take your safety seriously while also continuing to provide compassionate care that you have trusted since 1960. 

In alignment with state and federal guidelines, Pella Regional resumed most services and has taken extra safety precautions to minimize exposure to COVID-19 while visiting our facilities.

How we are taking safety seriously:

Limiting visitors

Pella Regional Health Center revised visitor guidelines effective Thursday, October 1, 2020. The revisions will provide more flexibility in the patient’s choice of a visitor, while still keeping our patients and visitors as safe as possible.

All patients are allowed one visitor with the following exceptions:

  • End of life care (Limit 2 visitors at any one time/care team discretion)
  • Infusion and Oncology patients (No visitors. Patients who need assistance will be taken to the location by an employee of the respective department)
  • Patients in isolation (No visitors)

A visitor is defined as any non-patient individual (support person, visitor, caregiver, parent, guardian) accompanying or coming to see a patient. A visitor is one designated individual per day.

Guidelines for all visitors and support persons:

  • Visitors must be age 18 or older and healthy (no symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, chills, vomiting or diarrhea, loss of taste or smell)
  • Must be screened for symptoms before entering the facilities
  • Must wear a face covering at all times
  • Visitors must stay with the patient in their room (except surgery)
  • All visitors are required to wash hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand foam/gel upon entering and exiting patient’s room
  • Social distancing must be practiced in the halls and waiting areas
  • Med/Surg visiting hours are 8:00 am until 8:00 pm.

While we are committed to providing a family-centered care environment, right now limiting visitors is in the best interest of our patients, staff, family, friends, and our community. These visitor guidelines are subject to change as necessary.

Practice social distancing in public spaces

We arranged public spaces within our facilities to allow for social distancing. You will notice our waiting rooms and areas around reception desks have signs to keep you 6 feet apart.

All staff, providers, patients and visitors required to wear masks - regardless of vaccination status

In order to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, Pella Regional Health Center and its family of medical clinics will ask patients over the age of two to wear a fabric mask or homemade face covering to any medical appointment regardless of their vaccination status. If patients do not have face coverings or fabric masks one will be provided by Pella Regional for use during the visit. Guidance from the CDC encourages the public to wear face coverings in places like clinics and hospitals, where it’s not always practical to maintain six feet of separation between individuals. Staff are all required to wear the proper personal protective equipment that is appropriate for their position. Watch a video about when and how to wear a mask 

Screening patients and visitors for symptoms prior to entry - regardless of vaccination status

To protect the health of our patients and their families, Pella Regional Health Center will continue to screen all patients and visitors before entering the main campus of Pella Regional and Pella Regional’s family of clinics.

Patients who meet screening guidelines for COVID-like symptoms

Patients who meet screening quidelines for COVID-like symptoms are provided a color coded sticker and are seen in separate areas. 

Screening staff and providers prior to start of shift

Staff and providers are required to go through a screening prior to starting their shift. This includes screening questions about their symptoms to help ensure they are healthy while at work.

Safe appointment registration

Plexiglass shields or glass doors are in place at our check-in and check-out areas. We have markers on the floor to ensure social distancing. We clean and sanitize items patients and staff touch after each use. We also have hand sanitizer available at each registration desk.

Ongoing cleaning and sanitizing of facilities

We have always followed strict cleaning protocols and further enhanced cleaning protocols due to COVID-19. Our facility is thoroughly cleaned and rooms are disinfected between each patient visit. We also offer hand sanitizer stations throughout our facility for patient, visitor, and staff use.

Offering Virtual Visits

We are also offering Virtual Visits in situations where it is more appropriate than coming for an in person visit in our facilities. Patients can call their provider’s office to find out if Virtual Visits are appropriate for their condition. Your provider may also be reaching out to you to schedule a Virtual Visit.

How you can help ensure your safety:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others. Watch a video about wearing masks:
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home if you become ill.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
