Prenatal Class-Online Option Now Available

PELLA, Iowa—Birth and Beyond Prenatal Classes at Pella Regional have expanded to an online option available for participants. The online portion of the class provides childbirth and parenting preparation classes expecting parents can take conveniently from home or choose to pair with an in-person class and tour. The Birth and Beyond (online with a classroom option) classes are scheduled throughout the year.

“There are times when attending a class onsite may not be feasible for the parents,” said Debinee King, RN, childbirth educator at Pella Regional. “Now with the online eClass available, anyone can receive the knowledge whether in class or at home.”

Parents will get the essential information on labor, delivery, and post-partum care as an onsite class, plus 9 months access to the online curriculum.

Each eClass includes:

  • Engaging videos
  • 3D animations
  • Learning activities
  • Fun quizzes
  • Helpful web links
  • Downloadable PDFs
  • Parent’s Toolbox loaded with interactive tools

Participants choosing to also do the classroom portion will have time for hands on training, get questions answered from staff and tour of the Family Birthing Center. “The classroom portion is a two to three hour period where an instructor will share what parents can expect during their time at Pella Regional, review different breathing techniques, labor positions, and a time to answer questions,” said King.

Prenatal classes prepare new moms very well for the birth experience. “Any time we can be better informed and have more knowledge, the knowledge we gain helps reduce fear, and if we reduce fear, then it also reduces tension and stress,” said King.
