Open House for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine

PELLA, Iowa— Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine at Pella Regional is holding an Open House for the public on Tuesday, May 14 from 8:30 – 10:30 am. Community members will have an opportunity to tour the new area, ask questions of providers and staff and enjoy some refreshments. Please use the new parking lot on the corner of Jefferson and Hazel streets and use Entrance #7.

Chronic wounds affect approximately 6.7 million people in the United States and the incidence is expected to rise at a rate of two percent annually over the next decade. An aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy contribute to the chronic wound epidemic.

Treatments include debridement (removal of dead or damaged tissue), specialty dressings and wraps, offloading pressure techniques, bio-engineered tissue substitutes and negative pressure vac therapy. Pella Regional also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by exposing the patient to 100 percent oxygen to help support the healing process.
