National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – Saturday, April 27
PELLA, Iowa – Saturday, April 27 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and Pella Regional is encouraging individuals to turn in unwanted prescription medications from their medicine cabinets. The First Fill Pharmacy inside Pella Medical Clinic has a kiosk where individuals can dispose of unwanted or unused controlled or non-controlled medications not only on April 27, but anytime during the year.
“Everyone should look through their medicine cabinets on a regular basis and collect unwanted or expired prescription medication and take them someplace to be disposed,” said Allison Dop, pharmacist at the First Fill Pharmacy within Pella Medical Clinic. “This is important because it helps reduce the chance that others accidentally take or intentionally misuse the medication, especially children.”
The kiosk is available during First Fill Pharmacy hours Monday – Friday: 9 am – 6 pm, Saturday: 8 am – 7 pm, and Sunday: Noon – 7 pm. The items that the kiosk cannot accept are syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs.
Pella Regional’s Retail Pharmacy on the Square can accept non-controlled substances during regular business hours Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday: 8 am – 2 pm, and Sunday: 1 – 4 pm. They cannot accept controlled substances such as pain medications.
