Karen Westercamp Receives Quarterly DAISY Award

Karen Westercamp, Daisy recipient with Chief Nursing Officer, Deb Willyard, and Obstetrics staffPella, Iowa-- Pella Regional Health Center is proud to announce that Karen Westercamp in the Family Birthing Center is a DAISY recipient. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration that these nurses give to their patients.

Excerpt from Karen Westercamp’s nomination:
“Karen is the obstetrics manager. Her many years of experience as manager and labor and delivery nurse are very apparent. Her knowledge is priceless. She has excellent assessment and critical thinking skills and can quickly identify high risk issues. Karen is always willing to put in extra hours when the need arises regardless of whether it’s on evenings or weekends. She takes great pride in going above and beyond to give all patients the most professional and compassionate care.”

Westercamp received a certificate that reads: "In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people." Westercamp was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
