Charlotte Beyer, Hospice Volunteer of 2018
PELLA, Iowa— Charlotte Beyer, volunteer at Hospice of Pella, is Pella Regional’s 2018 Hospice Volunteer of the Year. Charlotte, along with other honored volunteers throughout Iowa, was recognized on September 21 by the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa.
Volunteers serve in many capacities within Hospice of Pella. Volunteers provide companionship for patients and relief for caregivers by letting them take a break from the bedside. They help with transportation needs, including errands and rides to and from appointments. Their role is instrumental in the care of patients and families in hospice care.
“Charlotte Beyer is an incredible volunteer! She’s a hard worker, accepting several shifts each month at the Comfort House. With a big heart and an eye for detail, she makes sure the cookies are baked, the porches are swept and the closets are stocked. She’s also helped care for patients in their home, taking time to do laundry, tidy a room or simply listen. We are so appreciative of Charlotte. She’s the one to call when we need something done with kindness and a smile,” said Beth Loux, volunteer coordinator at Hospice of Pella.
