CT (Computed Tomography)

CT

More wattage means brighter light bulbs. More gasoline means your vehicle runs longer. More CT slices means clearer images.

Clearer images allow doctors to see the finest details of the human body, helping them diagnose more accurately, pinpoint signs of disease earlier and develop better treatment plans.

Computed Tomography (CT) is one of the most safe and reliable examination methods available today. It is fast, simple and completely painless. The CT technology in the Harmeling Imaging Center at Pella Regional Health Center automatically adjusts radiation dose depending on patient size, providing up to 66 percent less radiation during a test. Plus, with the “real time” visual of the scan allows the images to get to the radiologist in a timelier manner for interpretation.

CT works with an X-ray system that rotates around you, taking cross section images of your body. CT builds up images of different body structures by scanning in a series of slices that form a complete picture. The CT allows for the inside of your body to be dependably and precisely portrayed. Areas that can be examined by CT include:

  • Brain
  • Sinus
  • Face
  • Neck
  • Thorax
  • Abdomen
  • Pelvis
  • Extremities
  • Calcium Scoring
  • CT Angiography
