Harmeling Imaging Center
Diagnostic Imaging All in One Place
The Harmeling Imaging Center is the permanent home of all diagnostic imaging testing within Pella Regional Health Center. Located within the Harmeling Imaging Center will be MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy and Digital Radiography. Also included is the Women’s Imaging Center, made possible by a donation from Pella Corporation, home to Mammography, Bone Density and Breast Ultrasound testing. The area is named after John Harmeling, the first Administrator of Pella Community Hospital.
The primary purpose of the Harmeling Imaging Center is to provide the best possible service to the patient. We make special efforts to protect our patients from injury, whether through mechanical or radiological means. We do our best to protect our patients from infection, emotional stress, apprehension and other problems that might be encountered, while making the visit to the Harmeling Imaging Center as pleasant and rapid as possible.
All imaging procedures are performed by Registered Radiologic Technologists with Iowa Permits to Practice, with additional certifications in their specific imaging modalities.
The Harmeling Imaging Center is located right outside the Pella Medical Clinic, making testing more convenient for patients that are in for a physician appointment. The Center is also has immediate access to the Emergency Department so that patients in urgent need of imaging services are tested immediately.
Along with upgrades in much of the medical imaging equipment, the reading room for Dr. Henry, Radiologist for Pella Regional Health Center, has been redesigned to create the best possible environment for test interpretation. “Radiologist reading rooms are often poorly lit, noisy and uncomfortable. That environment does not support the functions and tasks required to perform most successfully,” says Dr. Henry. “Our new reading room design truly is cutting-edge. The indirect ambient lighting is optimal for radiological interpretation. Our intention is to streamline the procedures and processes that impact treatment flow and patient throughput.”
By combining all these diagnostic functions into the Harmeling Imaging Center, patients can get the care they need without going to a variety of different settings within the hospital. This helps empower patients to take an active role in managing their own health care needs.
