Dr. Carlstone received BS and MS degrees in Economics from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He then returned to Iowa to attend medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He recently completed his Family Medicine residency program at McLennan County Medical Education and Research Foundation in Waco, Texas.

Dr. Carlstone is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Carlstone is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
