Benefits

Pella Regional Health Center provides a competitive and comprehensive benefits package to meet the needs of all our employees and their families. These benefits are included with our pay plan to provide a total compensation package and may require employee contributions for participation. A variety of benefits are available to full and part-time employees. Casual and PRN employees may participate in a few benefits based on hours worked.

Medical, Dental and Vision Plan 

Full and part-time employees and their qualified dependents are eligible for medical, dental and vision coverage. Coverage for eligible employees is effective on the first of the month following the employee’s hire or eligibility date. Participating employees are required to pay a portion of the premium, which is pre-taxed for coverage through payroll deductions.

All employees and their eligible dependents may elect to participate in a vision discount program. The plan provides a discount on covered eyewear products.  

Flexible Spending Accounts

Full and part-time employees are eligible to participate in Flexible Spending Accounts. Coverage for eligible employees is effective on the first of the month following the employee’s hire or eligibility date. Coverage options under the flexible spending account include:

  • Medical reimbursement accounts allow employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for medical, dental and vision expenses. 
  • Dependent care reimbursement accounts allow employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for dependent care expenses. 

Group Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D)

Life insurance provides financial support to the employee’s family in the event of the employee’s death. Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance provides additional financial support to an employee’s family in the event of an accident which results in the employee’s death or dismemberment.

Full-time employees receive basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage on the first of the month following the employee’s hire or eligibility date. Pella Regional pays for the entire cost of both types of coverage for an amount equal to one times the employee’s annual salary up to $150,000.

Full-time employees also receive dependent life insurance at no cost to the employee. There is a $2,000 policy for a spouse and up to a $1,000 policy for dependent children.

Supplemental Life Insurance 

Additional life insurance is available for purchase by full-time employees. Employees may purchase additional term life insurance for themselves, their spouse and children within 30 days of their hire, open enrollment or eligibility date. 

Group Long-term Disability Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for long-term disability insurance benefits on the first of the month following their date of hire at no cost to the employee. The long-term disability plan provides financial protection for employees by paying a portion of their income if they become disabled. Long-term disability pay begins following a 90-day waiting period. 

Prescription Benefit

Pella Regional offers a prescription drug discount to employees and their dependent family members who are covered under Pella Regional's health plan. 

Retirement Plan

Pella Regional provides a 403B pre-tax and ROTH 403B after-tax savings plan to all employees upon hire. The plan immediately accepts a rollover of qualified pre-tax contributions from a prior plan, if desired. The plan features a comprehensive selection of investment funds. 

A pension program is provided at no cost to employees. Eligibility requirements for Pella Regional’s pension program are as follows: one year of service, 1,000 hours and at least 21 years of age. On a quarterly basis (Jan 1, April 1, July 1 and Sept 1), eligible employees are enrolled into the pension plan. At this time, Pella Regional begins to contribute the equivalent of 6% of employee wages into a 401A plan. 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program, a confidential service, is available to all employees and their family members. At no charge, employees may obtain unlimited telephone access to a counselor along with up to five face-to-face visits with a counselor for assessment. Employees and/or their family members who wish further mental health services may do so with the use of their health insurance.

Comprehensive Legal Plan and Identity Theft

Pella Regional offers its employees the ability to enroll in a Legal and Identity Theft Plan.

Paid Time Off 

Full and part-time employees are eligible for paid time off (PTO) benefits on the first day of employment. PTO may be used after the employee has worked for 90 days. PTO is intended to provide employees with paid time away from the job for rest and relaxation, for illnesses or to care for dependents that are ill. PTO banks also accrue hours for holiday pay. PTO is not guaranteed and requires approval by the employee’s manager.

Personal Holiday

Full and part-time employees receive 8 hours of personal holiday benefit in addition to the regularly recognized holidays. 

Short Term Personal Medical Leave 

Short Term Personal Medical Leave (STPML) is provided to protect an employee’s income during longer absences due to illness or injury. At the time of hire, a full-time employee is given 160 hours and a part-time employee is given 80 hours in the STPML bank. Employees continue to accrue additional time in their STPML based on the number of hours they work. STPML benefits may be accessed after the employee has been employed for six months.
