A new Helipad was created on the north side of the hospital. It will be used during the duration fo the construction project. As always, the Pella Police Department will continue to stop and monitor traffic when helicopters use helipad.

Caissons for the first phase of the construction were completed.

On the north side of the hospital, construction began for the new cooling tower and chiller system buildings. This involves tearing down the old cooling tower and digging footings for the new buildings. This part of the construction is being completed before warm weather calls for the use of the chiller.

Excavation was completed in mid-December. About 25,000 cubic yards of dirt, or approximately 2000 semi-truck loads, were hauled away.

Groundbreaking was held on October 12, 2006.

This is a view of the proposed main Pella Regional lobby close-up. Notice the Dutch influence in the draw bridge. The lobby windows will be etched to honor Pella's dutch heritage. The etchings will block out some of the sunlight and protect the lobby's furnishings from sunlight.

This image shows the anticipated additional story on Pella Medical Clinic that will be added. Notice that the second story connects up to the new Medical/Surgical Hospital Floor. This will allow more convienent access to the hospital floor for our physicians.
