Giving is a Blessing

Dewey & Wilma Veenstra's Foundation Story

Dewey and Wilma Veenstra believe that if God blesses you, you have to give back. And they do.

Dewey came to the Pella area in 1952 from the Netherlands. Wilma was born and raised in Pella. Donating to organizations like Pella Regional Health Center is part of what they do to keep the heritage of their community going.

“It’s very rewarding,” said Wilma. “The hospital here has developed into a marvelous place and that must continue. The way to do that is through the community giving.”

The Veenstra’s chose to give their gift to the continuing education endowment. As Dewey says, “Five years from now the whole medical field will change and we must keep up with those changes.”

The continuing education endowment assists Pella Regional employees pursuing further education, attending seminars or conferences and for certification in their areas of expertise.
