Get Better Sooner
Allen’s recent back pain wasn’t the result of an injury. “One day it just hurt” said Allen. “I was pretty laid up. I couldn’t lift or turn. I had trouble sleeping. It was painful all the time.”
Allen waited for about three weeks before heading to the doctor, hoping the pain would go away on its own. When he did eventually go to his health care provider, he was referred to spine therapy at Pella Regional’s Medical Clinic in Knoxville.
“I got to feeling pretty good pretty quick,” said Allen. He had only two sessions of therapy and didn’t need any other appointments because he was doing so much better.
“I think what helped Allen a lot was the thoracic thrust mobilization that we did,” said Gary Elises, physical therapist. “We follow research-based practices to get the best outcome for our patients and research has proven that patients who receive thrust mobilization get better sooner than those who don’t.”
Allen also worked on his mobility in his therapy sessions. Tasks like leaning side to side, bending, and then bending side to side. “The therapist also had me lay down and he put pressure on my spine,” said Allen.
Allen is able to do what he was doing before his back pain came on. “It was great,” said Allen. “A couple of treatments and I was back to where I wanted to be.”
