PELLA, Iowa –Pella Regional Health Center’s first baby of 2015 is a little boy—Blake Matthew, born at 7:58 am on January 2. He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long. His parents are Ryan and Lauren Davies of Oskaloosa.

While Blake was Pella Regional’s first baby in 2015, 492 babies were born at the hospital in 2014 – another record-breaking year! There were also four sets of twins born at Pella Regional. There were 248 girls and 244 boys. The heaviest baby was 10 pounds 12 ounces and the longest was 24 inches. The 2 busiest months were October and November with 50 babies delivered in each month.

There were multiple popular names for both boys and girls with the top choices being:
Boys: Aden/Adyn, William, Bentley, Cooper, Landen
Girls: Alexis, Aubrey, Lily/Lillian, Hannah, Kinsley/Kinzley
Both: Karson(boy)/ Karsyn(girl)

The Davies had recently moved back to Iowa when Lauren was 33 weeks pregnant and chose Dr. Carlstone as their doctor. “We’d talked about his name before we were even pregnant. He was Blake throughout the whole pregnancy,” said Lauren.
