Pella Regional Welcomes First Baby of 2014

2014 First BabyPELLA, Iowa –Pella Regional Health Center’s first baby of 2014 is a little boy—Gabriel John, born at 4:25 pm on January 1. He weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long. His parents are Chris and Molly Viesselman of Pella.

While Gabriel was Pella Regional’s first baby in 2014, 413 babies were born at the hospital in 2013 – another record-breaking year! There were 217 girls and 196 boys. The most popular name for boys was Jack or Jackson, and there were multiple popular names for girls with the top choices being: Abby/Abigail, Emma/Emme, Harper, and Zoey.

While Chris and Molly welcomed the first baby of 2014, their oldest son, Beau, was the last child of 2011.

“It was an easy choice to come back to Pella Regional for our second baby,” said Molly. “Everyone we’ve dealt with from doctors to surgeons [for the C-section] to nurses have been great. You can tell they love what they do!”
