The transition will happen over the next few weeks and there will be no interruption in service. Refills and prescriptions at Crown Pharmacy will be filled as usual, but by Pella Regional’s Pharmacy at the current location starting March 2, 2015.

Pella Regional’s Pharmacy aims to improve the quality of care for patients while reducing the costs of their medications, all with the convenience of having a pharmacy in downtown Pella. Hours of operation will be Monday – Friday from 8 am – 7:30 pm, Saturday from 9 am – 3 pm and Sunday from 1 pm – 4 pm.

“We’re very excited to reach an agreement with Crown Pharmacy owner, Don Versluys,” said Tony Linkmeyer, Chief of Ancillary Services at Pella Regional. “He has a reputation for high-quality pharmacy services and we are excited to continue his work while bringing pharmacy services into the realm of Pella Regional’s patient centered medical home.”

Pella Regional’s Pharmacy will also be able to help patients save on their health care costs by reducing unnecessary admissions and Emergency visits. Many of these occur due to noncompliance with medication. As part of Pella Regional’s medical home, the pharmacist will have access to the electronic medical record, allowing for a more coordinated step from physician to pharmacy.

“Bringing the pharmacy component to Pella Regional’s patient centered medical home is going to be of great value for our patients. The medical home is designed to keep patients healthy by providing primary care, coordinating any visits to specialists they may need and by taking steps to manage preventive diseases like heart disease and diabetes,” said Bob Kroese, Chief Executive Officer at Pella Regional. “A big part of properly managing your health care is to take the proper medications at the proper time. By having a Pella Regional pharmacist as part of our team, our patients will get personalized help in making the best decision on medicine for their acute or chronic condition.”
