Pastoral Care Week at Pella Regional: Oct. 25 - 31

PELLA, Iowa – Pastoral Care Week celebrates those who provide spiritual support to others. Pella Regional Health Center is taking dedicated time this week to recognize the spiritual needs of employees and the patients and visitors we serve.

Chaplain David Latham, staff chaplain at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky offers this prayer for health care workers: “Lord, you created us with the capacity to heal, to restore, and to offer peace, through whatever our profession or role in health care. Hear us when we ask for your refreshing presence in our lives that we, who sometimes tire of caring for others, will now be renewed and reawakened to the blessings of working where others come for healing.”

At Pella Regional, our Chaplains will go through hospital departments and medical clinics to do a blessing of the hands and also will honor a staff member as our Spiritual Care Collaborator. Pastoral Care Week will conclude with a Celebration of Life service designed for all staff to pause, remember and honor the patients we have cared for who have died over the last year.
