Melody Cochrane- August Shining Star for Pella Regional

Melody CochranePELLA, Iowa— Melody Cochrane, Medical/Surgical Unit, was selected as August Shining Star by co-workers at Pella Regional Health Center.

Cochrane, resident of Oskaloosa, was nominated based on Attitude, Appearance, Commitment, and Sense of Ownership.

Excerpts from her nomination:

“Over the years I have observed Melody to go above and beyond, not only for our patients but her co-workers as well. She covers many shifts as unit secretary and does it with a smile. She is a dependable, hardworking, and valuable employee. She senses the needs of others and feels their pain and sorrow. Recently after she worked a 12 1/2 hour shift, I observed her leaving. But not long after that I saw her rushing back into the hospital with 2 Bottles of A & W Root Beer. When I asked what she was doing, she replied, ‘Oh there is a patient on Med/Surg who requested A & W Root Beer and we don't have any so I went to get him some.’ That’s Melody, silently making a difference in someone's life.”

Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.

Cochrane will receive a $100 gift, a plaque, and will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award.
