Julie Hooyer --January Shining Star for Pella Regional

Julie Hooyer, Shining StarPELLA, Iowa— Julie Hooyer, Social Worker, was selected as January Shining Star by co-workers at Pella Regional Health Center.

Hooyer, resident of Pella, was nominated based on Attitude, Appearance, Commitment, and Sense of Ownership.

Excerpts from her nomination:
“Julie serves the Emergency Department as a Social Worker. Over the years of working in the Emergency Department it is often heard, "If we can just get Julie here she will get this worked out for us." Julie is available to us even when she is not on call. She arranges her busy schedule to come in to help or sometimes handles it by phone. Julie is kind and caring to our patients, but also has knowledge on how to treat them appropriately without enabling behaviors that are difficult to deal with. The Emergency Department physicians and nurses would like Julie to know how much it means to our department and the community to have her on staff to handle very difficult situations with a kind heart and a keen mind.”

Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.

Hooyer will receive a $100 gift, a plaque, and will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award.
