Jolene Furr--August Shining Star for Pella Regional

Jolene Furr, August 2016 Shining StarPELLA, Iowa— Jolene Furr, Hospital Pharmacy, was selected as August Shining Star by co-workers at Pella Regional Health Center.

Furr, resident of Pella, was nominated based on Attitude, Appearance, Commitment, and Sense of Ownership.

Excerpts from her nomination:
“Jolene recently programmed all of the PCA pumps with new pump concentrations, which proved to not be an easy task. She quickly came up with and implemented a plan to isolate pumps that were not taking the new pump programming and made it so that we could safely stock the new pumps. She effectively communicated this plan to pharmacists, nurses and managers.”

“Jolene again went above and beyond by coming in on her on call shift recently to open a medication machine that had gone down. While the nurses can open the machines, the need doesn’t come up often, so instead of explaining how, she came in and showed them. She made sure the nurses knew how to use the machine while it was down and that they had everything they needed. When we need someone to come in early or stay late, she is reliably there to help. She has the dedication and commitment that we all appreciate and her smile and laugh are infectious and keep the pharmacy alive and vibrant.”

Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.

Furr will receive a $100 gift, a plaque, and will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award.
