PELLA, Iowa— Diana Crook, RN, Nursing Shift Supervisor; was recently selected by a group of her co-workers as the May 2011 Shining Star at Pella Regional Health Center.

Crook, resident of Oskaloosa, was nominated based on Attitude, Appearance, Commitment, Communication, Etiquette, Privacy, Safety and Ownership.

Excerpt from her nomination:

“On a number of occasions I have cared for patients who require lots of time because of dementia. Diana has come into the room to assist, and I always enjoy how loving and kind she is toward the patients. She is one of the most patient people I have ever met in my life. Patients definitely feel cared for when she is in the room because she has a genuine heart for their needs.”

Shining Star is a reward and recognition program at Pella Regional designed to acknowledge an employee each month that demonstrates outstanding standards of behavior and inspires others to do their best.

Crook will receive a $100 gift, an ad in the local paper, a plaque and will automatically be included in the Shining Star of the Year award. Crook has donated her $100 gift to the nursing project to raise $4,000 to sponsor a student to attend the School of Nursing in Haiti.
